Who we are, in few words.

We are the pioneers of simplified hydroponic farming technology and sole distributor of a superior subsurface plant responsive drip in East and Central Africa. We have collaborated with different entities in the agribusiness and climate smart space like; Kenya Climate Innovation Centre (KCIC), Kenya Climate Ventures (KCV), Responsive Drip Plc USA and implemented major projects with development partners such as USAID, UNWFP, Welthilfe Hunger, Dubai Expo 2020, Aqua for All, Kenya’s Water Resources Management Authority (WARMA) and the Kenyan Ministry of Agriculture etc.

Dr Peter Chege

CEO

Dr Peter Chege Gichuku CEO & Founder. He has a Hon PhD in Science, Masters Certificate in Business Management & Leadership and Bsc Degree in Analytical Chemistry. His role is to steer the company in research, social impact investments and entrepreneurship. In his spare time Peter enjoys reading and learning about success stories that have impacted the lives of many for the better.

Elizabeth Mumbi Waweru

Director

Elizabeth. Director. She joined the company in 2013. She provides oversight in the administration of the company and assists the CEO in running the company. Elizabeth’s focus is on customer satisfaction and company growth. She is a promoter of good, healthy communication, and in her free time, loves to travel and listen to music.

Paul Kamau

Program Manager

Paul joined the team in September 2018 and is providing project oversight for all the projects executed by Hydroponics Africa and funded by various development partners from inception to implementation. He holds an MBA in strategic Management, a bachelor of Commerce and a Certified Public Accountant. What he cares most about is enabling vulnerable, marginalized and small holder farmers acquire their hydroponic system. In his free time, Paul enjoys travelling and watching documentaries. 

Wahongo Ayub James

Senior Agronomist

Ayub joined the project back in June 2013. He has a degree in Crops Horticulture, and Soils (CHS). Ayub’s position is vital in offering agronomical and extensional support for the farmers. Ayub made his mission to contribute to eradicating hunger. For this, he researches systems and techniques to develop sustainable crops. In his free time, Ayub enjoys reading and playing football.

James Wainaina

Research & Training Officer

James has joined the company at the beginning of 2013. His speciality is research, and he holds a Diploma in Laboratory Sciences. James also has a Diploma in Psychological Counselling. He enjoys the opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives. His focus is to improve crops in arid places, to contribute to the security of food. In his spare time, James is supporting by counselling people with mental conditions.

Kevin Ntwali

Administration Manager- Rwanda

Kevin has a diploma in Information Technology and experience in Accounting. He joined the project at the beginning of 2016 and since, is overseeing the company projects in Rwanda. Kevin’s mission is to get better at his work. That’s why he is happy with the challenges he finds every day. Those challenges help him grow. In his free time, Kevin is delighted to travel and sometimes plays football.

Opicho Lawrence Wasike

Agronomist

Lawrence has a Diploma in Horticulture and joined the team in the beginning of 2013. He is a specialist in identifying the crop threats and plans the treatment when necessary. Lawrence, like the rest of the team wants to contribute to the elimination of the food shortage, a problem that has important ramifications. In his spare time he loves watching movies.

Mary Wanja

Operations Manager

Mary has joined the team in March 2019. She has a degree in business management, and she handles finance and operations. Since joining the team, she got more confident and knowledgeable. She gained a whole new appreciation for farming. After work, Mary loves to read and discover things and travelling. 

Samuel Wainaina Muthoni

Technician

Samuel is part of the team since November 2018, has a diploma in mechanical engineering and is in charge of installation of the sold systems. Samuel is eager to learn and advance his career and because of that he is getting an education in project management.
In his spare time, Samuel loves to watch good movies and also does a bit of acting.

Rose Waithera Kuria

Office Assistant

Rose is with the team from the very beginning 2013. She performs both clerical and administrative duties. She holds a Diploma in administration. In her free time, she loves to travel and watch movies.

Festus Nyongesa Tongolo

Agronomist

Festus holds a Diploma in Horticulture and joined the team from the very beginning, back in 2013. He offers support on the farm and advises the farmers when needed. He is an eager learner, and he is happy to learn something new every day.
In his spare time, Festus is following two of his biggest passions, sport and music.
