What it is?
Aquaponics is any system combining conventional aquaculture raising fish with hydroponics in a symbiotic environment.
How it works?
In aquaponics, the nutrient-rich water that results from raising fish provides a source of natural fertilizer for the growing plants. As the plants consume the nutrients, they help purify the fish’s water. A natural microbial process keeps both the fish and plants healthy. Therefore, aquaponics produces fish and organic or chemical-free fruits and vegetables in a dynamic, pond-type ecosystem. It can feed your family, or it can be part of providing vegetables and fish for a whole community.

We have a fully installed aquaponics system at our farm in Zambezi, Kikuyu that you can explore at your convenience. We can provide you with all materials required and even give you the fish! These include the fish tank, growing bed and water unit.
